Va pamphlet 29 9 Form: What You Should Know

Veterans Service Centers in Nevada, Arizona, and Utah will begin offering service disabled veteran's insurance (S-DVI) as an option on a new benefit plan to veterans in Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. Veteran enrollment in S-DVI by VA's Nevada, Arizona, and Utah Veterans Service Centers will be the same as other veterans enrolling in VA healthcare. Veterans using the Nevada, Arizona, Utah, or another service center will be able to receive the same benefits and coverage that are offered under the Veterans Choice program (see above). Veterans applying for S-DVI in these geographic areas and areas that have a service office within Nevada, Arizona, and Utah will be able to receive: Preventive services that are not included in the current health plan Limited access to physician services for services previously covered under the Nevada, Arizona, and Utah VA plans The coverage will continue for those veterans with a pre-existing service connected disability. No cost-sharing will be assessed for any of those conditions and services formerly covered under the Nevada, Arizona, and Utah VA plans, and it is the same coverage you receive in your private health plan. VA will begin to provide health benefits to eligible veterans in Nevada, Arizona, and Utah under a new S-DVI program on January 1, 2023. Nevada, Arizona, and Utah are the last 3 counties to start eligibility for S-DVI by December 31, 2022. VA will be expanding to a number of other areas within 2018. The geographic areas include: • Kansas (see attached map) • Northern California (see attached map) • Alaska (see attached map) • Utah (see attached map) VA will start outreach activities in Northern California in October 2024 to reach as many service members using VA healthcare as possible before S-DVI expansion to the entire state occurs, by January 1, 2023. VA is encouraging service members and veterans with service-connected disabilities to continue having regular access to a traditional VA system, so they can better understand their new and expanded benefits. The California Department of Care and Development will be the primary point of contact for California veterans' assistance and advocacy services. There are several outreach events scheduled in late July, early August to educate veterans and service members about S-DVI. Veterans with veterans' and veteran's benefits issues are encouraged to attend events in which VA representatives are scheduled to participate.
